JUGAAD USE OF SPACE

I wanted to explore the Indian concept of jugaad, the innovative act of adapting something to suit a purpose, in relation to how public space is used. Due to less restriction being placed on how public space is used in India in comparison to many other parts of the world, people are innovative when it comes to how to make the most out of space they have (whether they have any claim to it or not!). This photo series explores the ways in which space is appropriated, and shows the colour and variety of Indian streets.
