Gully 19
Wander into the gullies, or alleyways, of India and you’re sure to find a blurring of private life and public space. Through the lens of family life, this film explores the adaptation of space to suit the needs of its inhabitants.
The alleyway acts as an extension of the family home, with Karan and his grandparents sleeping in a cot in the alleyway, and only space for his aunt and uncle to sleep on the floor inside. Much of their daily life takes place out in the open, and is intertwined with other families (and their livestock!) as a consequence.
